Oscilloscope calibrator with 6 GHZ bandwidth

13 February 2002 Test & Measurement

Spescom MeasureGraph has announced Fluke's range of 9500 B Oscilloscope Calibrators. The Fluke 9500B offers a unique, simplified 'single box' calibration solution that is also claimed to be cost effective. It supports a broad oscilloscope workload bandwidth - from DC to 6 GHz.

The 9500B oscilloscope calibrator provides the necessary traceable signals required to fully calibrate a wide range of oscilloscope instruments from a variety of manufacturers such as Agilent, Tektronix, and LeCroy. Any previous 9500 configuration can be upgraded to support the 9560 head and 6 GHz bandwidths.

Maintaining the integrity of the Fluke 9500's calibrated signal source at the unit under test (UUT) requires short transmission lengths and an optimised impedance match. A transmission length of a few millimetres is achieved through the integration of critical circuit design into a compact 'active head'. As many as five active head modules can be controlled from the Fluke 9500 base unit and placed on the scope input connectors. This allows automated, hands-free operation, and reduces signal aberrations and reflections normally associated with the use of cables.

Using the MET/CAL Plus software and the growing Fluke library of procedures for the calibration process, the Fluke 9500B's precision calibration can be fully automated, improving measurement repeatability and five-channel throughput.

Key features:

* Can be upgraded should workloads change.

* Unique active head technology maintains spec at the UUT's input connection.

* Complete hands-free calibration with active head technology.

* Simultaneous output on five channels improves throughput.

* Model 9560 generates variable amplitude (5 mV to 3 V) with 70 ps rise time edges for precise calibration at high bandwidth frequencies.

* Auxiliary signal input.

* High-accuracy traceable calibration.
