16-bit micro with more flash than predecessor

Hitachi's H8S/2398F device offers 256 KB of embedded flash memory, double that of Hitachi's preceding model, the H8S/2357F, but costs less due to a new 0,35 µm manufacturing process. It features a popular mix of memory and peripherals, low power consumption, high CPU performance, and near-pin-compatibility (one pin difference) with the H8S/2357F. The device is general purpose, suitable for many application areas such as consumer, industrial, telecoms and automotive. The new device uses the same emulator for development as the older chip, enabling customers to re-use their existing development suite. The device offers 5 V/20 MHz operation, and features a high performance, single-cycle CPU, which yields 8 MIPS Dhrystone at 20 MHz, and uses 70 mA (@20 MHz). The device is available in 128-pin QFP.
