Aavid Engineering's 5768 series clip-on heatsink for TO220 package devices is a unique plug-in heatsink. It has four spring-action clips which eliminate the problem of gaps by applying pressure in four places on the plastic package - exactly where cooling is required. This assures the tightest possible fit between semiconductor and heatsink. The result is maximum metal-to-metal thermal contact - and superior thermal performance.
For vertical or horizontal mounting, they can be furnished without tabs or with tinned brass tabs for wave soldering, directly to PC boards. Fins on both sides of the heatsink provide superior air circulation for effective heat removal in either vertical or horizontal positions.
