With faster microprocessors requiring higher powers, Aavid has teamed its heatsink capabilities with existing voltage regulators so one does not have to redesign one's motherboard. The 5820 Series works with 15,4 W, high power TO-220 regulators such as Linear Technology's LT1580 and LT1575. Although the higher power regulators require additional heat dissipation, this heatsink is a drop-in replacement for previous designs. The rest of your system can remain the same since the 5820 Series uses natural convection for cooling.
