'Eurostyle' terminal blocks meet power density requirements

13 March 2002 Interconnection

Designed to meet the requirements of high-power board connections, the 91 and 92 series Eurostyle terminal blocks from Molex offers industry-leading power density. With advancements in IGBT technology and increasingly dense, large backplanes, the 91 and 92 series terminal blocks are used in AC motor drive controls, electrical inverters and soft motor starters.

Available in two to 16 circuits, the 91 series have 10,2 mm terminal spacing, accept up to 6 AWG and are field service rated at 600 V for 40 and 60 A depending upon configurations. The 92 series may be ordered in two to 12 circuits, have terminals on 15 mm spacing and are field service rated at a maximum of 600 V for 90 A with the use of 3 AWG wire. The 92 series accommodates up to a 3 AWG size maximum.

Featuring extended wire entry funnel that surrounds the wire insulator, the products eliminate exposed wire strands and possible shorting. These fixed terminal blocks use a rising cage pressure clamp that compresses wires uniformly and offers a secure, reliable contact. Combination slotted and posi-drive screw heads improve transmission of torque and wire retention. Strategic spacing between all conductive components meet the 600 V UL 1059 requirement and the 800 V requirement of IEC 947-1 pollution degree 3. In addition, multiple PCB terminals distribute power, reducing 'hot spots'.

For greater reliability and security, the insulator has a 94 V-O high flammability rating and uses leading edge polyamide polymer with a 130°C temperature service rating. All Molex Eurostyle products meet UL 1059, UL 508-C, IEC 947-1 and IEC 1010 standards.
