Slim, low-power relay handles industrial loads

Fujitsu Takamisawa Europe offers a 16 A printed circuit board power relay for HVAC applications that it claims consumes 35% less power than the company's previous-generation relay. The FTR-JR series features 530 mW nominal power and 9,5 mm insulation distance. It provides a dielectric of 1000 V between open contacts and will withstand a surge of 10 000 V between coil and contacts.
The series is available in 12, 18 and 24 V d.c. coils and is UL Class B-rated (130°C). The 1 Form A relays feature quick-connect TAB contact terminals and Cadmium-free contacts with a maximum carrying current of 20 A and a maximum switching voltage of 400 V a.c. Featuring 100 000 electrical operations minimum (at rated load) and 20 million mechanical operations minimum, the slim relays provide 10-55 Hz, 1,65 mm double-amplitude vibration resistance and 200 m/s2 functional shock resistance. Other specifications include a 9,5 mm (minimum) insulation distance between coil and contact, a 5 kV dielectric strength, and a 10 kV surge strength voltage.
