ThinSOT synchronous step-down converter

Linear Technology's LTC3405 is claimed to be the industry's smallest synchronous 300 mA step-down switching regulator. Delivers up to 300 mA of output current from a 2,5 to 5,5 V input voltage range - ideal for single cell Li-Ion battery applications. 1,5 MHz switching frequency allows the use of tiny, surface mount components and keeps the switching noise well above the pass-band of most communication systems. Constant frequency, synchronous buck-switching topology obtains efficiencies as high as 96%. Internal synchronous switches increase efficiency while eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode. Selectable Burst Mode operation allows internal power MOSFETs to operate based on load demand and reduces quiescent current to 20 µA when there is no load (less than 1 µA in shutdown). The LTC3405 is available in 6-lead ThinSOT package.
