Powerful new software offers performance lead

Xilinx has released its new Version 4.2i Integrated Software Environment (ISE). Xilinx claims that benchmarks of customer and IP core designs show ISE 4.2i delivers 70% faster clock speeds on high-density next-generation Virtex-II designs than the nearest competitive offering with available silicon. The new release offers proactive timing closure technology delivering over 300 MHz design speeds, up to 3125 Gbps I/O speeds, and partial reconfigurability - a first for the programmable logic industry - says Xilinx. ISE 4.2i also supports the new Virtex-II 'dash 6' (-6) speed grade design files.
