Rugged DC-DC converters

28 August 2019 Power Electronics / Power Management

XP Power introduced two new series of wide input-range chassis- and DIN-rail mount DC-DC converters that offer simple and rapid installation into a wide variety of industrial and ITE applications. The DTE06 and DTE10 provide 6 W and 10 W of power, respectively, and offer a 4:1 input range, giving a wide tolerance for fluctuating supplies. With nominal inputs of 12/24 V d.c. and 24/48 V d.c., the series cover inputs between 9,0 V and 75,0 V d.c.

The devices are supplied fully potted in chassis-mount format with screw terminals for simple, time-saving mounting and connection. A DIN-rail mount is optionally available for use in control cabinets and household consumer units. A power-good LED indicator provides at-a-glance confirmation of correct operation.

All of the DC-DC converters are IEC/UL/cUL 62368-1 safety approved and offer 3,0 kV d.c. isolation between the supply and load. They also comply with EN55032 Class A emissions with no external components, meaning that no additional filtering is required for EMC compliance.

The device itself and the equipment that it is powering benefit from a range of safety features including input under-voltage, short circuit and overload protection. A convenient remote on/off feature allows the DC-DC converters to be easily controlled. The DTE06 and DTE10 series operate over a -40°C to +105°C temperature range, and deliver full rated power at temperatures up to +80°C.
