600 MHz UTP data cable

Belden has introduced a new performance-leading data communications cable, the DataTwist 600e. This is an unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable that was specially engineered to perform well beyond proposed Category 6 standards in Power Sum NEXT, Return Loss, Attenuation and Power Sum ACR. According to the manufacturer, it is also the only UTP cable in the industry to guarantee performance to 600 MHz (v. industry standard of 250 MHz).
DataTwist 600e delivers a guaranteed 8 dB of Power Sum NEXT headroom over Category 6, nearly 5 dB of Return Loss improvement at 100 MHz, an attenuation margin, and positive Power Sum ACR to 460 MHz. These electrical performance specifications equate to a significant amount of headroom over the proposed standard, says Belden. Superior headroom performance provides two major benefits: it compensates for unforeseen factors such as substandard patch cords, flawed NICs, non-compliant installation practices or such environmental noise factors as EMI and RFI and it protects the end-user's technology investment against future industry advances, ie delaying obsolescence. The product incorporates two patented Belden innovations, Bonded-Pair technology and the e-Spline design. These assure the structural and electrical stability of the cable both 'on-the-reel' and after installation.
Bonded-pair technology is a manufacturing process that affixes the individual insulated conductors together along their longitudinal axes to ensure that the twisted pairs will not loosen during their manufacture or installation. The e-Spline design provides for a consistent spacing of the pairs in their individual 'chambers' within the cable sheath and an optimal orientation of the four pairs. This reduces NEXT and also minimises conductor length differences for improved attenuation performance.
