Epson's E0C-88409 is a low power 8 bit single chip micro-controller based on Epson's CMOS 8 bit core CPU E0C88. This device has been designed for use in information terminals needing low power operation, eg electronic dictionaries and organisers.
The E0C88409 utilises a built in A/D converter operating at 2 MHz with a 10 bit resolution and a minimum conversion time of 11 µs. By using an on-chip LCD controller, the device can power a middle-scale LCD panel by connecting external common drivers (Epson's SED1635 or SED1670 device), or external segment drivers (Epson's SED1606 or SED1570 device); this also allows software to control scrolling displays.
The E0C88409 has a built-in touch panel control to detect the co-ordinates of a touch panel by using two channels of the A/D converter. The touch panel controller also features a capacity to resist noise. Furthermore, the device can control up to 4 M x 3 byte of memory with the 22 bit external bus and 3 bit chip enable signals.
