In keeping with its policy of heatsinks that can save time, Aavid Engineering introduced the 5768 series clip-on heatsink for TO-220 package devices. This is a unique plug-in heatsink that has four spring-action clips which eliminate the problem of gaps by applying pressure in four places on the plastic package - exactly where cooling is required. This assures tight fit between semiconductor and heatsink. The result is maximum metal-to-metal thermal contact - and superior thermal performance.
For vertical or horizontal mounting, they can be furnished without tabs or with tinned brass tabs for wave soldering, directly to PCBs. Fins on both sides of the heatsink provide superior air circulation for effective heat removal in either vertical or horizontal position.
