Step-down controller includes 150 mA LDO

Linear Technology's LTC3700 is a constant frequency 550 kHz step-down DC-DC controller with up to 94% operating efficiency. It includes an on-chip 150 mA low dropout linear regulator in 10-lead MSOP. The switching controller's high operating frequency allows use of small inductors for up to 3 A of load current. Constant frequency reduces induced noise while minimising output filtering. The second output, a low dropout linear regulator, delivers up to 150 mA without requiring an external transistor. For DC-DC conversion accuracy and load protection, the switching controller is current-limited and provides ±2,5% output voltage accuracy. The LDO is also current limited and provides ±3,75% output accuracy.
