Orcad enhanced with new products

Cadence's Orcad Unison Suite features four newly-enhanced Orcad products, providing all the tools PCB designers need in one convenient, highly integrated package. Comprising Orcad Capture design entry, PSpice A/D Basics analog and mixed-signal simulation, Orcad Layout board design and SPECCTRA 4U autorouter, the Orcad Unison Suite is a complete solution for front-to-back PCB design, says the manufacturer.
* Orcad Capture: an industry standard for streamlining and simplifying schematic entry. As the front-end design tool of choice for PSpice and Orcad Layout users, Orcad Capture provides tight integration for cross-highlighting and cross-probing as well as forward and back annotation.
* PSpice A/D Basics: a widely used simulation tool for teaching simulation in the classroom. This entry-level, mixed-signal simulation tool imposes no limits on circuit size, performs functional simulations of digital parts in mixed-signal simulations, and allows engineers to perform all the basic PSpice analyses.
* Orcad Layout: uses the AutoECO (automatic engineering change order) feature to import the netlist from Orcad Capture and merges it with the board design. Orcad Layout's manual placement tools provide the designer with full control of the component placement process. Components can be placed individually or in groups. After pre-routing, the remainder of the design can be routed with Orcad Layout's grid-based autorouter or with the SPECCTRA autorouter, whichever is easier to run.
* SPECCTRA 4U: SPECCTRA autorouting employs powerful, shape-based algorithms to make the most efficient use of the routing area to deliver increased productivity and shortened design cycles. With the default autorouting command file created by Orcad Layout, SPECCTRA runs and autoroutes the board design. After checking the board design with SPECCTRA's tools and reports, routing information can be automatically read back into Orcad Layout by simply closing SPECCTRA. (Not offered as a standalone product).
