Earth insulation lock-out relays

NewElec's locally designed and manufactured EC/ED earth insulation lock-out relays monitor the insulation state of protected motor windings and feeder cable cores to earth while the motor is standing. The main contactor is prevented from closing into a circuit in which the insulation level to earth is below a certain calculated permissible level. The selected lock-out relay determines the minimum value of insulation level.

The EC/ED relays provide total isolation of the measuring circuit from the main supply during running mode. Operational status and fault indication is provided by LEDs, and the fused measuring circuit protects the relay against inadvertent damage due to incorrect connections.

Compact in design, the relays are easily installed in flameproof enclosures and are suitable for cables and motors with star delta or DOL starting. They are suited in applications where high condensation occurs, in standby equipment and often in coastal areas. The type EC is for industrial use while the type ED is for flameproof applications. The protection package includes the relay, an 11-pin plug-in base and a three-phase choke.
