For many years now, Hamamatsu Photonics has offered the well-known, large area G5832 series of InGaAs photodiodes. Now to provide optimum sensitivity at the traditional telecom wavelengths of 1,3 or 1,5 µm, a new range of InGaAs photodiode, the G8370 series, has been introduced with AR coating.
Available with a variety of active area sizes even up to 5 mm dia. as standard, these photodiodes are well-suited for test equipment. The G8370 also has a large shunt resistance, and features very low noise and low dark current, says the manufacturer. The InGaAs receiver also allows longer distances to be tested and higher accuracy fault detection to be achieved.
Hamamatsu Photonics, one of the world's largest independent supplier of optoelectronic components, manufactures a wide variety of other components for fibre-optic applications such as silicon PINs and APDs, InGaAs arrays, LEDs, etc.
