Converter boosts 3 V to 15 V

ON Semiconductor's NCP1403 is a monolithic pulse frequency modulation (PFM) step-up DC-DC converter is designed to boost the voltage of a single lithium battery or a two-cell AA or AAA battery up to 15 V output. It can be used to bias LCDs or to drive white LEDs. The device can also be incorporated in step-down and voltage-inverting configurations, so it is flexible enough for use in a variety of applications. With an efficiency rating of 82% at its maximum output of 15 V, the NCP1403 conserves battery power. A built-in pull-up chip enable feature, a low operating current of 19 µA (no switching) and a low shutdown current of 0,3 µA, further extend battery life. Other features: low start-up voltage of 1,3 V typical at 0 mA; max output voltage up to 15 V with a built-in 16 V MOSFET switch. The 16 V switch allows use over wider output voltage ranges without an external switch.
