The S-8460 is a PWM control step-up and step-down switching regulator-controller. It consists of an automatic-selection control circuit for step-up and step-down, a reference voltage source, an oscillation circuit, an error amplifier, and a phase compensation CMOS circuit.
The automatic-selection control circuit for step-up/down in PWM control realises a high performance step-up and step-down switching regulator operating on one coil. Additionally, the use of N-channel power MOS transistors for external switches enables high efficiency and high output currents.
The S-8460 is claimed to provide low-ripple output, high efficiency and superior transient characteristics which come from the PWM control circuit capable of varying the duty ratio linearly from 0%, the optimised error amplifier and the phase compensation circuit.
