When it comes to enclosures, 'local is lekker'

There are any amount of companies selling imported enclosures but very few who are selling South African made enclosures. This is the opinion of David Winterton who runs a business in Durban called Plastic Converter Industries (PCI), which is devoted solely to selling enclosures into the electronics and electrical industries.

He states that 92% of their monthly sales of approximately 26 000 units are from their range of locally moulded enclosures. If a customer is looking for a good quality enclosure at a price very much less than one would pay for an imported enclosure he will hopefully be able to assist.

PCI has been in existence since 1989 when it ran a plastic injection moulding business. That business was sold in 1997 and since then it was concentrated on building up a range of moulds to mould enclosures. Included in the range is the Bateleur Range and recently, the moulds for the Big J and Little J enclosures have been located and the enclosures are now available once again. These enclosures were very popular until the moulds disappeared a few years ago.
