Surface mount DC/DC converters deliver up to 8 A

Bel Fuse, a developer of magnetic-based solutions for networking and computing applications, has released the low profile S7DB Diamondback family of surface mount DC/DC converter modules. These are ultra-high efficiency converters that is currently comprised of three series: the S7DB-07A, S7DB-08B and S7DB-08C, with output currents of 7 A from a 12 V source, 8 A from a 5 V source, and 8 A from a 3,3 V source respectively. The family also provides output voltages ranging from 1 to 5 V d.c. and features modules which deliver full load efficiencies as high as 93%.

Designed to be compact, Diamondback non-isolated step-down converters boast a 31 x 21 mm footprint, and a low profile of 8,8 mm. They come in a 12-pin overmoulded DIP package and are compatible with the standard pick-and-place and reflow processes commonly used in high volume production. Further, robust packaging provides superior thermal performance even in applications with minimal airflow.

Integrated features include output voltage adjust, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), output overcurrent and short circuit protection together with remote sense and remote on/off. The S7DB-08B and S7DB-08C are rated for -40 to 85°C; the S7DB-07A for 0 to 70°C.
