Poynting Antennas recently secured a multimillion rand contract with Elson, an Athens-based company, to supply it with a complete range of broadband, high-power EW antennas. Elson is a subsidiary of Sonak SA, which forms part of the Axon Holdings group of companies that is trading on the Athens Stock Exchange.
Poynting says it believes that this marks the beginning of a long-term relationship with Elson as the company plans to make regular use of Poynting's antenna designing and manufacturing services. The antennas will be used for transmitting high power RF and monitoring the frequency spectrum over a wide band. The contract will run over a period of 20 months and includes the antenna design, and manufacturing, to the client's specific requirements.

In most cases, the antennas were designed to be mounted on vehicles, but they can easily be adapted to be mounted on containers or any other structure the client requires. They are easy to deploy in a short period of time. Where possible, antennas can be disassembled into sections, which are housed in custom-made canvas carrying bags for easy storage and transportation.

Electrically, the antennas were designed to cover a wider frequency range compared to what is currently available on the market. The innovative designs allow the user to limit the number of antennas required in the field. This results in reduced logistic requirements, storage requirements and, ultimately, the cost of the system.
