International Rectifier has introduced two hermetically sealed, 120 V input DC-DC converters that handle up to 13 W per cubic cm power density, and deliver up to 80% efficiency. The AFL12005S delivers 16 A at 5 V output, and the AFL1203R3S delivers 20 A at 3,3 V output. The AFL12005S handles up to 25% more power at 5 V than the closest standard device according to IR. The AFL1203R3S is the industry's first hermetically sealed 120 V input, 3,3 V output DC-DC converter made available in a 194 x 97 x 9,7 mm package. The converters are designed for military and other high reliability systems, including instrumentation and space experiments.
The AFL120 series converters are fully functional, self-contained DC-DC converters with an input range from 80 to 160 V, rated over full military temperature range of -55 to +125°C. They incorporate proprietary magnetic pulse feedback technology, providing optimum dynamic line and load regulation response.
Manufactured in a facility fully qualified to MIL-PRF-38534, the converters are available in four screening grades. Variations in electrical, mechanical and screening can be accommodated.
