Axon' Cable is a European specialist in flat cables with flat conductors insulated with polyimide, polyethylene naphtalathe and polyester. The company is launching a new range of flat cables for the automotive market called Axoline. Its flat construction means that these products save around 30% of space and weight of the cabling.
Axoline cables are made of flat copper conductors and a homogeneous thermoplastic insulation, which ensures perfect water resistance to external environments. This range of flat cables is specially designed for cabling in all parts of the car cell.
Connection of equipment such as lights, sensors, switches, loudspeakers, electrical engines and multimedia requires different current rates (up to 10 A). To meet this requirement, these cables are made of copper conductors of different widths and thickness, which fit most connection types. One cable can consist of conductors with different widths and thickness and can thereby be used to connect equipment with different power needs.
A high-performance insulation
The characteristics of the selected thermoplastic materials ensure good performance of the cable under class 1 (80°C) and class 6 (200°C) temperatures. The fire retardant insulation guarantees the security of the conductor and passengers and its low halogen content is environmentally safe. In comparison with polyester multilayer insulation materials, which use glue for the laminating process, the Axoline thermoplastic insulated cables do not contain adhesive and therefore are resistant to humidity. As a result, cable life is increased. Moreover, as this material does not contain adhesive, the insulation is more competitive than a polyester insulation. Axoline cables pass the hydrolysis tests required by some car manufacturers (1000 hours in salt water at 85°C and 48 V).
As Axoline can be stripped by standard mechanical systems, it can be delivered in cut and pre-stripped pieces on request. The manufacturer's expertise in electromagnetic protection also gives it the advantage of offering shielded cables as well as the ability to qualify the EMI performance of the cable.
