Automotive relay for 42 V systems

12 March 2003 Switches, Relays & Keypads

Fujitsu Takamisawa's automotive relay with 42 V coils and 1,4 mm contact gaps is suitable for controlling lamps, motors or solenoids in 42 V cars, SUVs and trucks. The FBR580 relay has a high carry current capacity of 20 A for three minutes. In single contact configuration, it has a maximum switching current of 9 A, 42 V d.c. It is rated at 6 A, 42 V for 30 000 operations (locked motor load).

The relay is available as two independent Form C relays mounted in a single package. Two contact material options are available and selection depends on the specific application requirements. For high-current applications, such as heated or deicing windshields, the relay can be configured in series double-make configuration to provide a 2,8 mm contact gap rated at 30 A 42 V resistive or 20 A 42 V locked motor loads.

The twin relay package weighs 18 g and measures 26 x 20 x 17 mm. It has an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C.
