OKW Gehäusesysteme has developed the Datec-Control handheld case range in four sizes (XS, S, M and L) specially for the installation of graphics-capable displays. The latest accessory for this range is an impact-protection device called the 'Protector' for the second-smallest version, the S model.
With a holding width of only 72 mm, the Datec-Control S is particularly handy yet still offers sufficient space to integrate individual parts. The rounded display area is already prepared for the installation of many different types of display modules as well as for battery operation. In order to protect the final units from mechanical influences, OKW has designed a sheathing made of soft plastic for this Datec-Control S. The so-called Protector offers good protection for the components from impacts and vibrations, as well as protecting the edges of the case, when used in rough conditions.
This impact protection is produced from a rubber-like TPE material (thermoplastic elastomer) in the standard colour Volcano (NCS 5502-G). In order to guarantee easy and reliable operation of the units with the impact protector, however, certain panels have been cut out, for example the operating panel, the battery compartment cover, the label panel and the front surface.
The Protector reflects the design features of the cases and in conjunction with the basic unit is visually attractive. On request, the impact protector can also be produced in customer-specific colours (starting from 200 pcs). This provides ideal support for individual corporate identity specifications of users.
