Open-drain reset generator

26 March 2003 Power Electronics / Power Management

The ADM6315 is a precision voltage monitor and reset generator, intended for use with microprocessors or in any electronic system requiring supply voltage monitoring and reset functions. This Analog Devices part contains a precision voltage comparator and voltage reference. It has an open-drain reset output that provides an active-low reset pulse at power-up or if the supply voltage drops below the threshold voltage.

A debounced manual reset input is also provided. This can be extremely useful if the system becomes locked up or gets into any other state that requires user intervention. A switch may be connected between the [not]-MR input and ground (no pull-up resistor required), or the [not]-MR input may be driven from a logic signal.

The ADM6315 is available in a choice of six different reset threshold voltages to suit supply voltages from 3 V or 5 V. A choice of four different reset periods from 1 ms to 1120 ms is also available to suit different system reset requirements.

The ADM6315 is supplied in space-saving SOT-143 package. Other features are: specified overtemperature; low power consumption (5 µA typ); precision voltage monitor of 3 and 5 V supplies; reset assertion down to Vcc > 1 V; built-in manual reset.
