Miniature TCXOs

26 March 2003 Electronics Technology

The CFPT-9000 range of miniature TCXOs (temperature compensated crystal oscillator) are implemented using C-MAC MicroTechnology's ground breaking Pluto fourth-order temperature compensation ASIC. The CFPT-9000 is believed to offer the world's best stability per unit volume: better than ±0,3 ppm over temperature range in a 7 x 5 x 2 mm SMD.

Stratum 3 stability - within ±0,28 ppm - is possible for output frequencies up to 20 MHz over the 0-50°C temperature range; standard frequencies include 12,8, 13, 16,384, 16,8 and 19,44 MHz, although others can be specified. Frequencies up to 40 MHz are available at lower stabilities.

Wide operating temperature ranges can also be specified at stabilities from ±0,5 ppm. For example, a device offering ±1,0 ppm stability between -40 and +85°C is likely to prove popular in future mobile communications devices. Highly linear frequency adjustment via an external control voltage is custom definable from ±5 to ±40 ppm.

It operates down to 2,4 V and provides HCMOS or sinewave output with tri-state option.
