V24 interfaces are generally secured with screw clamps. There is now a new method, which makes it possible to rivet suitable internally-threaded bolts directly onto the connector itself. Erni has created specially-shaped sheet metal components which prevent twisting of the bolt.

To secure the D-Sub connector to the front panel, Erni now rivets on a threaded rivet specially-designed so that it does not extend beyond the sheet metal housing on the mating side. The company has also come up with something new for D-Sub connector users for back panels (180°C exit).

With the Erni method, the spacing bolt required for securing the connector is directly riveted to the housing itself. This bolt is also available with internal thread.

A D-Sub connector with threaded rivets makes the job of mounting significantly easier (a third hand becomes unnecessary). It means that one can mount the connector, (eg, to the front panel) faster and can dispense with the previously necessary hexagonal nut. The rivet is specially designed so that it does not extend beyond the sheet metal housing on the mating cycle.
