Li-MnO2 and Li-ion batteries

25 November 2020 Power Electronics / Power Management

COROS Battery, which is located in Korea, has launched new 3,6 V Li-SOCl2 (lithium thionyl chloride) and 3,0 V Li-MnO2 (lithium manganese) batteries. The company’s key members have extensive experience in the design, development, production, quality control and engineering sales of lithium primary batteries over the last 25 years. Thus, it has made some technical and supply collaboration with Korean contractors and Chinese partners to supply customers with the best quality lithium primary batteries.

It is known that lithium batteries take a long time to get product assurance. However, COROS Battery has long-term experience in primary lithium batteries and can reduce the product reliability period with a well-known technology and accelerated test period.

COROS 3,6 V lithium thionyl chloride batteries are Korean-made with a bobbin structure of 1/2AA, 2/3AA, AA, A, C, D, and D 3,9 V sizes for low- and medium-current applications and with a spirally wound structure of C and D sizes for high-current applications. Also, a product expansion is underway for high-temperature lithium batteries with bobbin and spirally wound types covering +100℃, +130℃, +150℃ or +165℃.

COROS 3,0 V lithium manganese batteries are Chinese-made, with highly qualified partners following good production and control systems and with good reputations. CR123A, CR-2, CR17450, CR17505 and CR14250 (bobbin only) types are available.

COROS hybrid batteries are based on Li-SOCl2 bobbin cells + HPC (hybrid pulse capacitor), LIC (lithium ion capacitor) or EDLC (electronic double layer capacitor). Li-SOCl2 bobbin batteries have the advantages of high voltage, low self-discharge, long lifetime and high safety, but face a voltage drop issue under high pulses such as in data communication. Thus, for customers to maintain a stable working voltage under high pulse currents regardless of the temperature range, COROS provides Li-SOCl2 bobbin cells + HPC, LIC or EDLC.

COROS Battery also operates its own battery pack assembly line. It gives customers more convenience and best service with final inspection for industrial applications with the usage of terminals, wire and connectors, and custom type battery packs. With pack assembly experience, COROS Battery can provide customers with Li-ion or Li-polymer battery cell and pack solutions for various applications like electronic devices, small e-cars, etc.

The company’s batteries are produced in a fully automated process following an IATF16939, ISO9001 and ISO14001 certified quality management system.
