While working in an electrostatic protected area (EPA), ESD clothing is necessary to make sure that people do not charge the products they are working with. ESD footwear and clothing prevent static charge from building in an EPA and should be used in conjunction with other grounding devices, such as a wrist strap, cord and ESD surface mats, to provide a continuous path to ground to dissipate any static.

ESD clothing ranges include lab coats, jackets, polo shirts, gloves and personal protection equipment. ESD clothing features the universal yellow ESD warning sign to indicate that the personnel are authorised to work in the EPA.
ESD footwear or foot grounders should be worn on both feet to ensure constant contact with the floor. Conductive ESD boots and shoes are suited to rugged working areas where it is crucial to prevent ESD damage.
