AREI issues call for new members to improve industry sales stats

News
Dear Reader,
AREI (Association of Representatives for the Electronics Industry) was established in 1991 (then known as ADEC) as a non-profit association representing the interests of electronics industry in South Africa. Many of you, at some stage over the years, have either been a member or been involved with our many exhibitions and successful business breakfasts.
Unfortunately, over the last few years interest has diminished and the Covid-19 pandemic especially has completely changed the way we do business. The decision to keep the association ticking over by cutting our operating costs was the correct one, and already life is getting back to normal.
With this in mind, we are appealing to you to help us grow our membership base, thus making AREI the leading association representing the electronics industry.
As such, we will be in a much stronger position to collaborate with the various government departments on most industry-related concerns.
Many of the country’s leading component distributors contribute their sales figures twice a year for certain component categories, and the results are issued free of charge to fully paid-up members. These figures are compiled with the strictest confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements are signed if required. The more contributors we have, the better the accuracy.
AREI’s prime objective is to contribute to the creation of an environment which encourages dynamic growth of the electronics manufacturing industry, at both the component and system level, in South Africa. Today, our membership comprises suppliers, distributors, electronics manufacturing service providers and original equipment manufacturers.
Our membership fees are as follows (exclusive of VAT):
• 10 staff members: R1768 per annum.
• 10-20 staff members: R 2862 per annum.
• >21 staff members: R 4041 per annum.
To become a member or to make enquiries, please contact the AREI administrator, Jenny Gooding, on +27 82 899 4143, [email protected], or visit the association’s website at www.arei.co.za
