Antennas and Electromagnetics Study Guide

26 January 2005 Technical Literature

Poynting Antennas has a 140-page guide book available that was written to be used by lecturers in their antenna courses. Poynting has been marketing it to lecturers and students internationally, and says it was surprised at the level of interest shown by South Africans who are interested in the RF field. People doing wireless installations, and Ham radio enthusiasts, for example, are buying it to learn more about antennas and radiation theory.

The company offers the guide for R550, which includes VAT, a limited licence for Poynting's SuperNEC simulation software, and delivery in SA. The SuperNEC software is what the company calls 'a virtual laboratory for EM & Antennas'. SuperNEC includes student tutorials and animated help. Poynting added the animated help feature in its latest version to allow the novice student to become familiarised with SuperNEC in a short timeframe.

Chapters in the book include backgrounds on virtual experiments involving: transmission lines, matching, waves, basic antennas, array theory, and complex antennas.
