Transtronics
Transtronics was formed in 1986 as an out-sourcing contract manufacturer by the Electrocomp management. As the electronic components sales organisation, Electrocomp recognised the need for value- added services to be offered to its customers. Although Transtronics' initial expertise was in ferrite transformer and choke assembly, it soon diversified into printed circuit board assembly and later into harness and cable technology. The latter business was purchased as a complete operation from Molex South Africa ensuring an international level of expertise.
As part of the Electrocomp Group, Transtronics enjoys a major advantage in its ability to offer competitive component prices. Transtronics is divided into three sections: transformer section; PCB populating section; and the harness/cable section.
Electrocomp has branches in major cities in South Africa: Johannesburg is the head office, the others are Durban, Pretoria and Cape Town.
