Essemtec takes home technology award

12 November 2008 News

Essemtec has been awarded a 2008 Global Technology Award in the category of Best European Product for its Multi-Flexible Production Solution.

The award was presented by Global SMT & Packaging Magazine’s publisher and editor-in-chief Trevor Galbraith during an awards ceremony held recently. The products which were honoured included the FLX-CVU, FLX2011, CSS4050 SMD Tower and FLX-MIS management information system.

With the FLX-CVU, electrical values of discrete components can be measured pre-placement. For verification of the reel content, for example after a reel or job change, a selectable amount of components are moved to a measuring station and tested through two electrical contacts.

The FLX2011 is available in a standard size, as a large model and with or without conveyor systems. It can be expanded to FLX2021 or FLX2031 for higher speeds and feeder capacities. Additionally, it is 20% faster than its predecessor, the FLX2010.

The use of the CSS4050 SMD Tower, with components stored on reels, is enhanced with system-optimised storage, whereby reels used more often than others are stored where they can be accessed more quickly. Up to 500 reels can be stored in one tower and each tower offers electrostatic shielding and moisture protection.

The Management Information System FLX-MIS is a machine-oriented software package for production optimisation and cost reduction. It boasts features such as a simple component counting function, an alert level than can be set per component, export of a consumption list, and a component creation requirement for storage systems.

The systems are all lead-free capable, making the solution an environmentally friendly, multifunctional package.

The Global Technology Awards programme is sponsored by Global SMT & Packaging Magazine, and is an annual celebration of product excellence in semiconductor packaging and electronics assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology in key areas are chosen by a distinguished panel of global industry experts.
