Display manufacturer, Raystar Optoelectronics, has produced a range of OLED displays with sunlight-readable technology. This technology uses a special filter which is manufactured into their standard OLED displays which makes the display brighter and more readable in direct sunlight. OLED displays with this feature can be produced in a range of colours including yellow, blue, green, red and white.
The displays make use of a specially designed polariser to combat the shortcomings of competing sunlight readable technologies, which can include compromised contrast and low-light performance. They thus manage to offer readability in direct sunlight while retaining their colour and contrast performance.
Available in character (8x2 , 12x2, 16x1, 16x2, 20x2, 20x4, 40x4), graphic (1,26” to 5,14”) and TAB (1,1” to 3,2”) models and supporting 6800 and 8080 interfaces, the displays are ideal for markets including security, automotive, service and data information.
