eRide and Wavecom have joined forces to bring a new generation of location and navigation capabilities to mobile applications.
The new Open AT plug-in, C-GPS, based on Wavecom and eRide's market-leading A-GPS technology, is designed especially to be used in conjunction with the Wavecom Q26 series wireless CPUs, and targets all devices in the vehicle, people and asset-tracking and management markets.
By using the extended MIPS capacity of the Q26 series, a controller-less GPS host-based solution has been created. The GPS software stack is executed as an Open AT plug-in on the Wavecom wireless CPU, resulting in minimising the physical size of the final product and reducing the cost of the complete design. With the Q26 technology, Wavecom says a complete global tracking solution is now available in less than the size of a match box.
Key features:
* Open AT OS: the realtime Open AT OS on the Q2686 allows developers to natively execute their C program with minimum processor resource overhead and minimum memory footprint.
* Open AT plug-ins: the plug-in architecture of Open AT software allows developers to write their own plug-ins or take advantage of the off-the-shelf range from Wavecom. C-GPS plug-in can be used in association with the TCP/IP plug-in or other plug-ins from the Wavecom portfolio.
* Evolutive offering: Wavecom C-GPS plug-in is aimed at offering flexibility. The plug-in will be available on the new Wireless Microprocessor Series to continue to support customers when volumes ramp up.
* Open AT IDE built on Eclipse: powerful cellular embedded development environment enables developers to code in C, compile, download, and debug wireless applications that are run directly on the Wireless CPU.
