Based in Pretoria, NewElec boasts production capabilities that are ideally suited for making customised plastic electronic housings using computer-controlled manufacturing equipment. The process is quick, flexible and cost-effective without the need for tools or moulds, making it highly relevant for prototyping and small to medium production runs.

The basis of the company’s production is its specially developed planar modular production technology (PMPT) with which plastic sheets (ABS, PS, acrylic etc.) are machined and chemically welded. For these exclusively milled components, NewElec creates all housing elements including holes, slits, push-outs and depressions for e.g. keypads and fasteners.

Toolless technology compares favourably with injection moulded parts in appearance, finishing and durability, with a minimal non-recurring engineering charge. With PMPT, there is no need for a new mould, as NewElec’s in-house engineers are able to modify the part quickly with minimal cost. The company’s technical consultant stays in regular contact with customers to ensure that any alterations in their design can be implemented immediately.
