Expanded range of high-quality displays

23 November 2022 Opto-Electronics

TME has announced that it has expanded its product range to include displays by Newhaven Display. Newhaven specialises in universal OLED, LCD, TFT and VFDs. The brand’s core products, however, include alphanumeric displays based on LCD and OLED technologies.

The displays come in 16 x 2, 20 x 2, 20 x 4, and 40 x 4 character configurations, with heights ranging from 3,23 to 9,22 mm. Liquid crystal products feature white, blue, grey, yellow-green or RGB backlighting. They are fitted with HD44780-compatible controllers providing a 14-pin parallel interface plus two backlight power pins. In addition, the displays are offered in versions controlled via SPI or I2C bus.

Although standard 5 V-powered displays are available, they are also obtainable in variants operating at 2,8 V. This facilitates the integration into battery-powered devices.

The LCD and OLED graphic displays have resolutions from 128 x 32 to 320 x 240, boasting versatility and a variety of colours. As with the alphanumeric models, selected products feature factory-fitted heating. As a result, the lower operating temperature limit reaches -40°C. Newhaven also offers temperature-compensated modules, which results in improved contrast and display quality as the working temperature fluctuates.

The modules are available with negative voltage converters, allowing the addition of a contrast adjustment potentiometer and relieving the microcontroller of this task.
