The AP Master Nozzle from Pillarhouse represents a dramatic leap forward in nozzle performance, offering both improved lifetime and wetting. This new nozzle, which is now available, has the following features:
• Better initial wetting for faster start-up of the nozzle and more user-friendly operation.
• Innovative surface treatment to improve long-term wetting and wear performance.
• A lifetime predicted to be at least eight times longer than a standard AP nozzle.
• A surface treatment which resists oxidation at high temperatures, allowing for easier rewetting of the nozzle.
• Better pull-off performance, enabling soldering of fine-pitch components.
• Compatibility with all current solders and fluxes on the market.
• Compatibility with the current Pillarhouse nozzle mounting system.
• Available exclusively on all Pillarhouse machines using wettable nozzles.
All wetting nozzles from Pillarhouse will be available in the new design. This will encompass the AP, Jet Tip, Extended AP, Extended Jet Tip, and Micro Nozzles. The Wide Wave and Jet Wave apparatuses do not wet the solder and therefore will remain unchanged. However, the wetted plates will utilise the new material design to improve their lifetime.
The new nozzle can be installed into an existing soldering system if the system uses the external thread option. If the internal thread system is still being used for mounting, a free-of-charge swap to the new mounting system can be arranged through Pillarhouse. This new nozzle can also be made available for the magnetic mounting system.
This nozzle is compatible with all current fluxes on the market. However, although the surface treatment applied to the nozzles increases the wettability and increases resistance to oxidation, maintenance still needs to be conducted. Furthermore, soldering in an inert atmosphere is essential. With correct maintenance, the AP Master Nozzle will last at least eight times that of the original AP Nozzle.
