The Renesas RZ/G3E MPU is a high-performance microprocessor designed to enable advanced HMI systems with integrated artificial intelligence capabilities at the edge. Combining powerful processing, AI acceleration, and advanced graphics support, the device provides a flexible platform for industrial, medical, and smart infrastructure applications.
At its core, the device integrates a quad core Arm Cortex-A55 processor running at up to 1,8 GHz alongside a Cortex-M33 core. This heterogeneous architecture allows demanding application processing to run on the Cortex-A55 cluster, while the Cortex-M33 handles real time and low power tasks, improving system efficiency and responsiveness.
To accelerate AI workloads, the RZ/G3E incorporates an Arm Ethos-U55 neural processing unit capable of delivering up to 512 GOPS of inference performance. This enables on device AI functions such as image classification, object recognition, voice processing, and anomaly detection without relying on cloud connectivity. Offloading these tasks to dedicated hardware reduces CPU load, while enabling real time analytics and improved power efficiency.
The processor also delivers advanced multimedia and display capabilities through an integrated Arm Mali-G52 GPU, hardware video codecs supporting H.264 and H.265, and dual Full HD display outputs. Camera support via MIPI-CSI enables vision-based applications, while multiple display interfaces including MIPI-DSI, LVDS, and parallel RGB support complex HMI implementations.
Combined with LPDDR4 or LPDDR4X memory support, hardware security features, and extended operating temperature capability, the processor provides a robust foundation for next generation edge AI and HMI designs.
