Centurion Micro Electronics supplies a range of adaptors to connect computing systems to hard disk drives (HDD) of different technology generations, allowing interconnection of IDE/PATA and SATA devices.
The ADA-10262 is a female IDE HDD to SATA adaptor which can connect old IDE disk drives to NEW serial ATA (SATA) motherboards. It connects to the SATA port of the motherboard with a cable and plugs directly into the HDD’s IDE interface. It utilises a +5 V floppy disk drive power connector and supports ATA 100/133 with no driver required.
By contrast, the ADA-10263 is a SATA HDD to male IDE adaptor used to convert IDE/PATA and SATA hard drive interfaces for use with older/newer computer systems. It has female SATA power and data connectors, and male IDE/Molex data and power connectors.
Also available is a USB 2.0 to IDE or SATA drive adaptor cable (pictured) which externally connects one 2,5”, 3,5” or 5,25” drive. The USB 2.0 interface enables easy installation with its plug-and-play design.
The adaptor supports all existing IDE/ATAPI devices such as Iomega Zip, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM and IDE hard drives and is compatible with current drive sizes on the market such as 1 and 2 TB SATA and 750 GB IDE.
The adaptor includes an integrated USB transceiver; supports USB suspend/resume and remote wakeup; and comes with a 5 V/1 A power supply that supports both SATA power and standard 4-pin Molex (LP4) power connectors.
