The Calmark Series 223 and 224 Card-Lok PCB retainers from Schroff incorporate a patent-pending torque limiting feature that enables a PCB assembly to be fixed into a chassis at a prescribed clamping force without the need for a torque wrench. They are aimed at application in military and other mission-critical electronic devices.
The devices secure board module assemblies to the cold wall in cold plate/heat exchanger applications with no torque wrench required. They employ a screw-actuated wedge action that locks the board module assembly in place with the use of a standard hex wrench.
This wedge action provides shock and vibration resistance while the screw actuation results in zero insertion and extraction force on the board. An alignment spring feature returns wedge bodies to the relaxed position upon unclamping. The way the system contacts between thermal paths on the board and the heatsinking surface results in optimum thermal transfer.
The retainers are two-level maintenance compliant for demanding military applications, and are available in 5,72 x 6,60 mm (Series 223) and 5,33 x 6,99 mm (Series 224) profiles. The five-piece design provides a clamping force of up to 1200 N.
Custom options such as three-piece assemblies and non-standard mounting patterns and finishes are available.
