Antennas for 4G, 3G, GSM bands

EAD has released two new antennas for applications requiring GSM, 3G and/or 4G coverage.

The FGO is a high-gain omnidirectional antenna covering European 4G, 3G, GSM and cellular bands (790-960/1710–2170 and 2500–2700 MHz). Offering gain across the bands of 4–5 dBi, it is designed for outdoor access applications where a high-gain antenna is required. It is well suited for access where the network signal is weak, where the radio is sited a distance from the antenna, or for environments where a reliable signal is critical, such as broadcast applications.

Housed in a weatherproof fibreglass sheath, the FGO is suited to frequencies using 4G (LTE) networks whilst supporting 3G and 2G frequency bands, should fallback from 4G be required. Gain figures are a minimum of 4 dBi/5 dBi /4 dBi on the lower, middle and upper bands respectively. The antenna can be pole-mounted or wall-mounted and is ideal for applications such as CCTV, security and broadband access.

The FGO antenna is terminated in a type-N female connector and is supplied with mounting hardware. Low-loss jumper cables can be customised to order with a choice of connectors.

The other new antenna, the LPM8270, has two radiating elements – one vertically polarised and one horizontally polarised – operating from 800–960, 1710–2170 and 2500–2700 MHz. Terminated with dual N-female connectors on the back of the antenna, the LPM8270 is primarily designed for outdoor access applications using 4G with fallback to 3G and GSM frequency bands.

With gain figures of 9 dBi on the low band and 7 dBi on the higher bands, the LPM8270 is a high-performing, compact directional antenna to complement 4G routers, modems and terminals, but also fully supporting 3G devices so 3G users do not have to change the antenna in the event they decide to upgrade to 4G. The radome measures 200 x 200 x 40 mm and the antenna is supplied with pole/wall-mount brackets.
