Tri-axis accelerometer

4 September 2013 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

The KXTJ2 is a low-power, low-cost 3-axis accelerometer from Kionix featuring low noise and a high-speed I2C interface. Featuring Kionix’s XAC sensor, which offers excellent stability with a strong combination of shock, reflow and thermal performance, the IC is also capable of producing accelerometer outputs with up to 14-bit resolution for high precision.

User-selectable parameters include ±2 G, 4 G or 8 G ranges and Output Data Rates (ODR) with programmable low-pass filter. The chip consumes less than 1 µA in standby mode, 10 µA at normal resolution and 135 µA at high resolution. It also offers a user-configurable wakeup function which lets designers conserve battery power.

The KXTJ2 integrates a voltage regulator to maintain constant internal operating voltages throughout the 1,8 – 3,6 V input supply range. It is packaged in a 12-pin, 2 x 2 x 0,9 mm LGA plastic package.
