Three-stage driver amplifier

M/A-COM Technology Solutions has developed a new three-stage driver amplifier for cellular backhaul applications. It is an advantageous solution for customers designing point-to-point radios that require a gain stage in the TX lineup to meet the intermodulation requirements at high power levels and the gain control dynamic range.

The device covers the 18 GHz and 23 GHz point-to-point bands and provides the required gain and linearity when used in conjunction with the typical up-converter and power amplifier MMIC products available from M/A-COM. It achieves this performance with very low DC power consumption, therefore reducing overall cost of supplying DC power and associated heatsinking. Performance figures include gain of 23 dB and output IP3 of 33 dBm.
