Texas Instruments has strengthened its motor solutions and sensing portfolio with the addition of a new family of Hall effect magnetic sensors designed for 2,5 V to 38 V operation in industrial applications ranging from position detection to motor control.
The rugged and fully protected DRV5000 sensor products include digital latch, digital switch and analog bipolar output options for such diverse applications as brushless DC (BLDC) motor control, home security, industrial valve and damper position sensors, speed and position control loops, and flowmeters.
All devices include reverse supply protection up to -22 V and the ability to withstand transient voltages up to 40 V. They can support -40°C up to 125°C with minimal change in magnetic sensitivity over temperature. The three-pin devices are offered in two industry-standard packages compatible with existing design architectures.
In addition to the new Hall effect sensor family, TI introduced two new reference designs in the TI Designs library to simplify and speed motor drive board design. Both designs feature the DRV5013 Hall effect sensor, the new DRV8307 or DRV8308 BLDC motor gate driver, and three CSD88537ND 60 V dual NexFET power MOSFETs, along with other required circuits, to help engineers jump-start their designs and even eliminate the microcontroller in cases where control is not required.
