SynQor’s introduction of the PowerQor series of fully isolated DC-DC modular power converters operate at efficiencies greater than 90% for a 3,3 V, 30 A output.
The modules produce little enough heat that they do not require a heatsink to keep their components cool.
The product line caters for output voltages of 15 V, 12 V, 5 V, 3,3 V, 2,5 , 2 V and 1,5 V. All units draw power from a 48 V nominal input (36 V to 75 V) and deliver either 150 W or 30 A. The converters use MOSFET synchronous rectifiers, as well as a fixed switching frequency converter topology, to achieve rectification with minimal loss, even at very low output voltages.
PowerQor converters are predominantly applicable to distributed and/or redundant power supply systems, where isolated low voltages are needed to power the load circuitry of complex electronic equipment. They feature a low profile (10 mm) and small footprint (58,4 x 61 mm) allowing designers to maximise valuable board space and minimise spacing between boards in a rack configuration.
With its low profile and no heatsink, the converter does not block airflow to other board components, and its low weight of 54 g reduces the adverse effects of shock and vibration on the end product. PowerQor uses the industry standard pin-out configuration employed by comparably sized and rated DC-DC converters.
A calculated mean time between failure (MTBF) in excess of 2 million hours is achieved through the integration of practical control and protection features to facilitate system design. All PowerQor series products offer on/off control, remote sense, output voltage trim, input under-voltage lockout, input over-voltage shutdown, output current limit, output over-voltage limit and temperature limit.
