A new option on Calex’s 500 W MXW and 360 W MTW DC-DC converters allows for extended temperature operation from -55°C to +105°C, including cold start at -55°C. The ‘-T’ option makes both series ideal for military/aerospace and hi-rel applications.
The modules feature a 9 - 36 V d.c. input range accommodating a variety of power sources from 12 V to 24 V to 28 V nominal. Output voltages available for both series are 12, 15, 24 and 28 V d.c. and all models are isolated input to output.
Each series offers high efficiency – up to 95,7% – and high power density which is accomplished through the use of synchronous rectification, advanced circuit packaging and thermal design. They operate at a fixed frequency and follow conservative derating guidelines.
Measuring 6,1 x 6,35 x 1,32 cm, the devices feature on/off control with a low idle current of 2 mA as well as a trim range of ±10%. Other specifications include output voltage setpoint accuracy of ±1,5%, turn-on overshoot of 0, output noise of 1% of Vout peak to peak, and line and load regulation of 0,15% maximum. All models operate down to a no-load condition.
All models feature thermal shutdown, over-voltage, over-current and short circuit protection, all with auto-restart. They also feature a monotonic startup into pre biased loads. The MXW and MTW are backed by a five-year warranty and feature mean time before failure (MTBF) of 5,4 million hours.
