RS Components announces global distribution agreement with Intel

18 May 2016 News

RS Components announced the signing of a global agreement with Intel for the distribution of a range of the company’s computing and embedded development products. The agreement enables customers worldwide to purchase a wide selection of Intel products direct from RS, targeting numerous applications and Internet of Things (IoT)-based projects.

Key Intel or Intel-based products available from RS include the complete Intel Edison development platform and the Intel Compute Stick, as well as various other devices including Intel Atom processor-based single-board computers and a range of Intel solid-state drives that offer densities from 64 GB up to 1,6 TB.

The Intel Edison platform includes an ultra-small compute module, a breakout board for rapid prototyping, and a board for Arduino. The Intel Edison module is a highly miniaturised, product-ready compute module that uses an advanced 22 nm system-on-chip including a dual-core, dual-threaded 500 MHz Intel Atom CPU and a 100 MHz 32-bit Intel Quark microcontroller. The platform also integrates Wi-Fi and low-energy Bluetooth Smart connectivity as well as device-to-device and device-to-cloud connectivity framework for IoT application development.

The Intel Compute Stick can transform any HDMI monitor or TV into a fully functional computer preloaded with Windows 10. The device provides the same OS, high-quality graphics and wireless connectivity as a full-sized computer with ample speed and storage, but is much lower in cost and very small, with dimensions of only 113 x 387 x 12 mm.
