SPI Flash memory

18 May 2016 DSP, Micros & Memory

GigaDevice manufactures the GD5F family of SPI NAND Flash memory, powered by single voltage power of 3 V or 1,8 V. These SLC type devices feature internal 8-bit/512-byte ECC processing and densities ranging from 1 Gb to 4 Gb, supporting standard SPI, Dual I/O and Quad I/O with a clock frequency of 108 MHz.

SPI (serial peripheral interface) NAND Flash provides a cost-effective, high-density non-volatile memory storage solution for embedded systems, based on an industry-standard NAND Flash memory core. It is an attractive alternative to SPI-NOR and standard parallel NAND Flash, with superior write performance and cost per bit over SPI-NOR and significantly lower cost than parallel NAND.

The command set resembles common SPI-NOR command sets, modified to handle NAND specific functions and additional features. Housed in a WSON8, 8 x 6 mm package, the GD5F devices are easy to integrate, with user-selectable internal ECC, internally buffered data move or copy-back and power-on read.
